Indivisible SF Update 10-18

Indivisible SF believes in an America that embodies equality, justice, and opportunity for all — a society in which the regressive and dangerous agenda led by Trump has no place. We work to protect each other and the integrity of our democratic institutions from this agenda, support progressive policies, and hold our elected officials accountable to their constituents.

Since the January 2017, over 4,000 San Franciscans have united as Indivisible SF to march in the Women's Marches, protest the Muslim Ban, meet regularly with our Members of Congress, and make thousands of phone calls to their offices to pressure them to do everything in their power to counter the policies and politics of Trumpism. There is much work in progress and many actions to come.

If you want to actively resist Trump, please join us. All are welcome.  Learn more at IndivisibleSF.org.

  • Next Thursday evening (10/24), we’ll be phonebanking for 7+ key House races at the Red to Blue HQ in the Castro. Following the phonebank, we’ll meet with House Leader Nancy Pelosi’s staff.

Wednesday afternoon, Indivisible SF will have our last meeting with Senator Feinstein’s staff before the midterm elections. If you’d like to join us, please send an email to info@indivisiblesf.org.

In addition to the listings below, we add new events to the Events Calendar on the Indivisible SF website as they are scheduled.

To learn about how to make a difference in the upcoming midterms, read Indivisible’s Practical Guide to Winning Elections and Voter Registration Guide (they’re like Indivisible Guide 2.0 and 3.0 for reaching and registering voters, respectively!).

#TheLastWeekend: It's time to transform our government—and you can help! Volunteer to talk to voters when it matters most, on #TheLastWeekend before the midterms. Sign up with Swing Left Coalition to hear about things you can do, now through Election Day. RSVP here.

Don’t forget to get ready to vote on November 6! We’ve published a few Voter Guides to help you make your decisions.

Join us at this week’s Indivisible SF General Meeting on Sunday, October 21, 4-6pm at St. Mark’s Church - Urban Life Center. We will be having our electoral breakouts:

Phone-banking: We’ll be phonebanking for Josh Harder in CA10. Please bring your laptop or tablet, and cell phone.

Text-banking: The closer the midterms get, the more opportunities for text banking we have—so many that we don't know in advance what might be available. Please bring a laptop or a tablet with external keyboard in addition to your phone, and we'll get you ready to text for whichever campaign needs you most! In addition to helping you get signed up, we'll give you some quick training so you can keep sending and responding to texts on your own time. Text banking is fast, satisfying, and a critical part of the GOTV strategy. Give it a try!

Postcards: Thank you, intrepid ISF postcard writers! At home, during Sunday Breakouts, and evening happy hours, we wrote and wrote until our fingers cramped. Audrey Denney of CA1 is nearly complete postcardstoCD1voters.organd Jessica Morse of CA4 is finished. We wrote over 5000 cards for more than eight CA congressional districts including: 1-Audrey Denney, 4-Jessica Morse, 22-Andrew Janz, 25-Katie Hill, 39-Gil Cisneros, 42-Julia Peacock, 45-Katie Porter, 48-Harley Rouda, as well as GOTV cards in California and other states, and supported our fellow Indivisible chapters nationwide by writing to flip their state legislatures. The expiration date for snail mail approaches--if you have any cards left, please write them and get them in the mail ASAP! We have ended our 2018 Midterm Election postcard parties, thank you for your solid and steadfast work building a postal tsunami for the Blue Wave.

Your Member of Congress Actions This Week

Last week Trump nominated 15 new horrible judges, including three that will fill California vacancies on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Today we ask you to call Sen. Harris and Sen. Feinstein to ask them to block these nominations.

We also ask that you reach out to your Senators and House Representative to ask them to reject any Farm Bill that cuts SNAP and fails to protect the environment and to investigate continuing immigration abuses, including the incarceration of immigrant children in a privately-run Tornillo, TX internment came.

We have other call scripts for our MoC’s this week on the Call Your Reps page of our website! Here’s a preview.

Senators:

House of Reps:

Also, check out our Member of Congress Scorecard, evaluating Sen. Feinstein, Sen. Harris, and Rep. Pelosi on their performance through June 30, 2018. The scorecard was based on the goals and priorities we set for them in the first part of this year. Check out how they did!

As an all-volunteer organization, we need all the help we can get to be a powerful voice in the Resistance. We are looking for more researchers who can help with calls scripts and Member of Congress meeting agendas. Do you read every piece of news you can get your hands on? Want to do something meaningful with all that knowledge? Help us out!

These roles can take up as much or as little time as you can spare, so please reach out to info@indivisiblesf.org. We need you!
